Dr. Emilee Carmen Valler (she/her) is a licensed psychologist and director of psychological assessment services at MindWell. She specializes in developmental differences and completing evaluations for Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and comorbid mental health concerns. Dr. Valler is passionate about working with individuals across the lifespan, as well as their families, through client-centered practices, interdisciplinary care, and promoting acceptance and awareness of neurodiversity. Prior to joining the MindWell team, Dr. Valler was a pediatric psychologist at the Center for Autism at the Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Valler uses a comprehensive, yet flexible, strengths-based approach to evaluation that bridges gold-standard and evidence-based measurement with a client’s own lived experience. She enjoys specifically working with individuals often under- or mis-diagnosed, including girls/women, gender diverse individuals, and the BIPOC community, as well as individuals pursuing diagnosis later in life.
While Dr. Valler focuses primarily in psychological testing at MindWell, she carries a strong background in consultation with schools and medical providers, individual and group therapy, and parent management training. Her therapeutic approach incorporates principles of accommodation/support planning, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution-focused techniques. She values care that affirms clients’ intersecting identities and empowers them to work towards personally-held goals that improve quality of life, however that is defined by the client themself.
Dr. Valler’s research interests have included measurement of social-emotional strengths and examining cognitive-behavioral interventions, such as ADHD coaching and social connectedness programs for Autistic children. Outside of work, Dr. Valler enjoys musical theatre, exploring the outdoors with her family “pack,” and taste-testing to find the perfect NY bagel.
