Marta Guzman, PsyD

Training: Florida School of Professional Psychology, (PsyD- Clinical Psychology), Interamerican University of Puerto Rico (MA – in Counseling Psychology), Cornell University (Post-Doctoral Residency)

Dr. Guzman is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of New York. She has experience working in higher education, community mental health, and medical settings. Her professional interests include anxiety disorders, chronic mental health issues, acute and chronic medical concerns, and equity and multicultural issues. Dr.Guzman finished her clinical training at Cornell University, where she completed a one-year clinical residency.

Both as a clinician and as a woman of color, Dr. Guzman is invested in prioritizing and improving the mental health of marginalized communities. She believes in creating a safe and warm environment using humor, collaboration, and practicing cultural humility.

Dr. Guzman implements an integrative theoretical framework, which is often informed by existential theory and empirically validated approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She also integrates a multicultural lens, particularly focused on transgenerational trauma.

Dr. Guzman is fluent in Spanish, and, when she is not working, she is typically thinking about cats, coffee, and good food.

Areas of Experience: Depression, Bipolar disorder, and other Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.
