Janet Shortall (she/her/hers) is a mental health counselor with a background in pastoral care. She brings over 30 years of experience providing trauma-informed care and support to university students and staff at Cornell University as a student services professional. Janet's approach to counseling integrates various modalities, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Feminist Counseling. Her clinical focus is on the experiences of undergraduate and graduate students coping with depression and/or anxiety as well as with older adults struggling with romantic relationships, grief and loss, trauma, and work-life balance. While pastorally trained, Janet understands that not all clients seek spiritual counseling. Janet brings to each counseling session a capacity for deep listening, a compassionate heart, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative relationship with her clients.
