Erin Forquer, PhD

Training: Columbia University, Teachers College (PhD in Counseling Psychology), Boston College, MA (Counseling Psychology)

Dr. Forquer is a counseling psychologist who received her MA from Boston College, and her PhD from Columbia University, Teachers College, where she specialized in multicultural counseling. She finished her clinical training at The College of William & Mary, and then spent the next several years working as a staff psychologist at Cornell University.

Dr. Forquer engages in therapy in a transparent, warm and collaborative manner. She works within an interpersonal framework, and incorporates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She has specialized training in multicultural counseling, and her work focuses on understanding how our identities and relationship dynamics impact us on a daily basis. Her clinical interests focus on identity issues related to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity, the impact of discrimination, as well as interpersonal therapy aimed at exploring relationship dynamics, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and the experiences of college/graduate students and student-athletes. Dr. Forquer also specializes in chronic illness and working with survivors of sexual assault and childhood trauma.

When not working, Dr. Forquer has a passion for historic preservation and restoring antique furniture and cameras. She also enjoys building furniture, watching true crime documentaries, and learning about other cultures.
