Dr. Ashley Dobbins (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Psychology at MindWell’s Burlington, VT location. She specializes in working with adults of diverse cultural backgrounds and identities. Dr. Dobbins has expertise in evidence-based treatments for those managing various disorders and has specialized training to treat PTSD, concerns related to substance use,  and a range of mood disorders. Dr. Dobbins has clinical interests in working with those managing co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns, and people managing symptoms related to complex traumatic experiences.

Dr. Dobbins utilizes a client-centered, strength-based approach to therapy and works collaboratively with clients to individualize treatment based on client needs. She integrates evidence-based practices, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing, to support clients in achieving their treatment goals and increasing life satisfaction. She focuses on creating a warm and compassionate environment for her clients.

Dr. Dobbins’ research has focused on understanding the unique relationship between mental health symptoms, personality characteristics, and substance use in people involved in the criminal justice system. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children, exploring the outdoors, and working in her garden.
