Dr. Christina Colgary (she/her) is a licensed psychologist and the Assistant Clinical Site Director for MindWell Psychology’s Albany NY practice location. She treats various mental health concerns seen in late adolescence through adulthood, with expertise in eating disorders. She is passionate about incorporating a weight inclusive framework in treatment, which focuses on helping clients of all body sizes find their own version of health. Prior to joining MindWell, Dr. Colgary worked in a range of settings, from inpatient to primary care. These past settings helped her gain a breadth of general experience in treating concerns related to anxiety, depression, executive functioning, substance use, and complex trauma.
In psychotherapy sessions, Dr. Colgary strives to prioritize the therapeutic relationship and approaches treatment in a warm and collaborative style. She fosters a therapeutic space that offers hope, empowerment, and a path towards growing self-trust and self-compassion. She often individualizes evidence-based modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is further committed to honoring one’s lived experience and personal values in treatment.
Dr. Colgary’s research interests have included the examination of eating disorder symptomatology, body image dissatisfaction, and suicide prevention trainings. When not working, she enjoys playing soccer and spending time with her sweet orange tabby cat and pomeranian pup.
